Top 5 Best Places to Visit in Jodhpur:
Mehrangarh Fort of Jodhpur in Rajasthan is not uncommon. But, the view it holds and the cafe Mehran that it is adorned with, is something to talk about.
Most of the people just visit this fort, drool over its beautiful craft and interiors, probably click a few pictures and go back.
But hey, this place holds a cafe, named Cafe Mehran, which opens in the evening. It is a place where you can take your cars as well. I would suggest you to go before sunset and soak in the spectacular view of the setting sun.
The horizon at the time of sunset, will take your breath away, while you sip some Masala Tea and Paneer Pakodas there.
Most importantly, you will be able to witness the beautiful blue houses in a bunch, which is not clearly viewable from anywhere else in the fort.
TOOR JI JHALRA
Jhalra is basically a step well in Rajasthan. This Toor Ji Jhalra is the least visited step wells in the whole Rajasthan.
Even if you go to the very famous Chand Bawri in Jaipur, you will not be able to witness the beauty and the unique architecture of these step wells, because there will be so many people apart from you.
I like to click pictures when there is no one around so that I can capture the place at its best. If you want to capture the intricacy of a step well, go to Toor Ji Jhalra, near hotel Haveli in the old city of Jodhpur.
Chand Bawri is essentially the step well that you see in the Rajasthan Tourism Ad Campaigns. But, to have a closer look, visit Toor Ji Jhalra.
Fateh Pol Road
One of the major problems that I faced was, I wasn’t able to figure out where I will be able to see the blue houses in a bunch. I was staying in Hotel Haveli near Toor Ji Jhalra.
There, you won’t be able to see a lot of those traditional blue houses. To please my eyes with these beautiful houses, I did a lot of exploration. Finally, I found the area which is Fateh Pol Road.
Take a walk around this area and please be aware if anyone calls you inside their house to click a picture. People here are really very nice and kind hearted but just in case you are travelling alone, be attentive.
I will also do a post about the people in Rajasthan, which will tell you how simple, helpful and kind these people are!
Ghanta Ghar or Clock Tower Market
Ghanta Ghar or Clock Tower market is situated in the old city of Jodhpur. Here, you will find a number of things to crush upon. Ranging from Handicraft goods to spices and more, this has too much to offer.
You will need to have a lot of time and patience to explore this market. This is where, the old city of Jaipur starts from. Formerly, all this area was a part of the Mehrangarh fort and the Clock tower market was a commercial place to sell goods.
Also, the Royal Elephants and Horses were stationed here in this market with a proper stable and facilities. Even today, the royalty of this market goes to the family of the King of Jodhpur.
They still stay in the Mehrangarh fort but no one is allowed to visit or see their residence.
Jhankar Choti Haveli Rooftop Restaurant
The old city of Jodhpur is obsessed with having marvellous roof top restaurants that allow you a view of Mehrangarh fort.
Jhankar Choti Haveli is a superb place to witness Mehrangarh fort at any time of the day and also munch on the delicacies they make.
You will find delicious baked potatoes to authentic Indian Aloo Paratha there. This is the view of the very splendid Mehrangarh Fort at night from the rooftop of Jhankar.
These were the 5 best places to visit not only in Jodhpur but also in Rajasthan. Places to visit in Jodhpur in one day also includes the above list. Shopping in Jodhpur is also too much fun because here, you will get a variety of stuff.
Some of the common places that you can visit in Jodhpur in two days are Umaid Bhavan Palace, Mirchi Bazaar, Jewellery Bazar and Jaswant Thada. All these places are also worth to visit but are mostly very crowded.
